International Competition

International Academic Decathlon makes the premiere scholastic competition available around the world.

Since its establishment, the United States Academic Decathlon® (USAD) has been dedicated to supporting interdisciplinary education and academic growth for all students. Our mission is to promote learning and academic excellence among students of varying achievement levels by developing and providing multidisciplinary academic competitions using Academic Decathlon curricula. Our vision is to provide all students the opportunity to excel academically through team competition. In the United States, USAD has made a significant impact on education by encouraging students to reach their highest potential and preparing them for future challenges.

In today’s era of rapidly changing technology, the education sector worldwide is more eager than ever to cultivate interdisciplinary analytical thinking and complex problem-solving skills. Therefore, in the 2024-2025 academic year, USAD, in collaboration with the World Youth Forum, will build upon our rich academic heritage to launch the International Academic Decathlon (IAD) globally. The IAD Program aims to respond to the needs of the times and the world, helping students and educators across the globe develop multidisciplinary learning skills, proficiency in complex problem-solving, and broad academic literacy. We believe that the IAD Program will offer students and educators opportunities for educational innovation and achievement and will help cultivate future leaders with a global perspective.

With the exciting launch of the IAD, international students now have a dedicated organization that has been designed specifically to support their needs and participation. While the IAD program's academic standards will parallel those of the Academic Decathlon, organizers in each participating country will be granted the flexibility to make necessary adjustments to maintain compliance with local policies, laws, and regulations. All students and schools outside the United States are invited to participate in the IAD program.

China is the first country to join the IAD and pass the academic standards certification. USAD extends its gratitude to its partner—SKT Education Group in China—for its support in this process. Based on the mission, vision, and academic standards of the IAD, SKT Education Group has launched the China Academic Decathlon/Pentathlon/Triathlon (CNAD/CNAP/CNAT) and is actively promoting the program and inviting partners, teachers, and students from other countries to join the global IAD family.

The winners of the IAD program will jointly participate in the first International Academic Decathlon Global Finals, which will be held in the United States in July-August 2025. We are looking forward to meeting Academic Decathlon participants from different countries and regions around the world at the IAD Global Finals!
