Curriculum Updates

Some of the maps and diagrams in the Science Resource Guide and Social Science Resource are best understood when viewed in full color. Students using the electronic version of the Resource Guides will have access to all full-color figures. Students using the black and white print version of the Resource Guides can view these figures from the Science Resource Guide in full color here and those from the Social Science Resource Guide here.

In the Art Resource Guide, page 83, the 6th line of the 2nd paragraph should read: “However, Copley’s father-in-law was a loyalist….” The revised page is here.

In the Literature Resource Guide, page 79, column 1, there is a typo in the 7th line from the bottom of the 1st paragraph. The title of the poem is “Kubla Khan.” The revised page is here.

In the Literature Resource Guide, page 76, column 2, line 4 should indicate that Neil Gaiman authored Good Omens with Terry Pratchett while American Gods (referenced in line 6) was written solely by Gaiman. The revised page is here.

In the Music Student Exercise Book, page 14, in the crossword puzzle “Dive Right In,” 14 across should have spaces for eight letters, and 15 across should have spaces for ten letters. The revised page is here.

In the Science Resource Guide, page 6, column 1, there is a typo in the 5th line of the 1st complete paragraph. “100,000 years ago” should instead read “10,000 years ago.” The revised page is here.

In the Science Resource Guide, page 6, there is a typo in the 6th line of column 2 in the name Red Sea.
In the Science Resource Guide, page 21, the last sentence in column 2 should read: “A molecule is a group of two or more atoms held together by mutually shared electrons.”
In the Science Resource Guide, page 63, the last sentence of the 4th bullet point in column 2 should read “Seagrasses are considered true marine flowering plants, while mangroves are land plants that tolerate salt.” The revised pages are here.

In the Science Resource Guide, page 21, Figure 1-22 provides an estimated range for the depths of oceanic divisions while the text of the guide provides an approximate figure (e.g., Figure 1-22 indicates that the abyssalpelagic zone begins from 2,000 to 4,000 m, while the text states that it extends from 4,000 m). While students should understand the sequence of the different zones, competition test items will not require students to indicate their exact depth.
