United States Academic Decathlon Curriculum Development

Academic Decathlon® Curriculum Developers


The Academic Decathlon® contracts with curriculum developers in each subject area to develop the subject area outlines, Resource Guides, and Notebook Dividers. Academic Decathlon® curriculum developers are teachers at the university level.


All Academic Decathlon® curriculum developers have advanced degrees in their subject area and have experience in curriculum development. All applicants must submit a resume and writing sample to be considered as a curriculum developer for Academic Decathlon® materials. Writers are selected taking into account their qualifications, experience, writing ability, and familiarity with the Academic Decathlon® program.


Academic Decathlon® Curriculum Reviewers


The Academic Decathlon® contracts with curriculum reviewers in each of the subject areas.


All curriculum reviewers have expertise in the subject area for which they are contracted and are generally current or former teachers at the university level. All Academic Decathlon® curriculum materials are reviewed by two curriculum reviewers. All Academic Decathlon® curriculum reviewers have advanced degrees in their subject area. All applicants must submit a resume to be considered as a curriculum reviewer for Academic Decathlon® materials. Reviewers are selected taking into account their qualifications, experience, and familiarity with the Academic Decathlon® program.


Student Exercise Book Authors and Reviewers


The authors of the Student Exercise Books are generally graduate students or exceptional undergraduate students in the subject area on which they are writing who are recommended to the Academic Decathlon® by their professors.


The Student Exercise Books are also reviewed by two reviewers. These two reviewers are typically teachers at the university level, have advanced degrees in their subject area, and have experience in curriculum development.
